It’s odds on we are looking at Kevin Muscat becoming the new Rangers manager 🤝

This is said to be close to being finalised with discussions around a reported 1.5 million compensation fee to Muscat’s current team Shanghai Port who would still ask Kevin sees out the last few games of the league and secures back to back titles.

It is likely Neil McCann will be a part of Kevin’s backroom staff and he could temporarily oversee the next few weeks games until Muscat is ready to join

Kevin Muscat (current manager of China’s Shangha

Kevin Muscat (current manager of China’s Shanghai Port) is not looking to dash out the back door at such a crucial point of the season. Shanghai Port sit top of the Chinese league by only 2 points with 4 games remaining of their season and Muscat is fully focused on delivering another league title.

This is unfortunate for Rangers fans who would have to wait until the 22nd of November at least before Kevin could travel over and join the team if he is appointed however it shows real loyalty and class for Kevin to stick by his task at hand and deliver what he promised. Fans are praising Muscat for being a man of his word with true integrity and I am sure they will forgive him for this delayed arrival if he does become manager and would be happy to accept Neil McCann as interim until then.

More has come out to state Gerrard may have been dissatisfied with some of the terms and that may have been having “his say” more on recruitment which would then create an obstacle right away as Kevin Thelwell and his son currently have a huge say in who Rangers recruit.

Steven Gerrard held really positive initial talks with Rangers Chiefs and was in line to return as a manager HOWEVER Steven himself has now WITHDRAWN himself as a candidate for the role stating it was a timing issue - which could be down to tax issues with ex club Al Ettifaq of Saudi.

This is a disappointing blow for the fans who were galvanised by the prospect of a Gerrard return to bring the “feel good factor” back to Ibrox.

Leading candidate is now Danny Rohl whom I am sure will be giving some leeway early on but who are we kidding, he fails to inspire fans and an appointment of such calibre would only continue the hangover Rangers fans are feeling this season.

In our opinion Derek McInnes would be the best candidate after Steven Gerrard however it is unlikely he leaves Hearts given their position and how early on he is in his tenure there.

It would take an absolute disaster to derail Gerrard’s return as Rangers manager and rumours coming out Thelwell may be an issue if Steven wants more of a say on recruitment which leaves a tough decision in the hands of the owners. We believe neither Thelwell or Stewart were present at the meetings.

Tom Culshaw is a given and would be part of the team as he has joined Steven on most ventures.

Jermain Defoe has all his coaching badges and has helped out coaching at Rangers before whilst watching from sidelines and overall is good energy to have around the dressing room and offers great support to our striking dept.

Gary MacAllister has widely known experience coaching at the club and helping toward a title and would be the obvious choice as an assistant however there no guarantees if it’s right for him at the moment would be a decision Gary would need to make.

Steve Holland has jumped out as a name strongly linked with Steven Gerrard, a man who has great experience at elite level with Southgate’s England squad and would be a great support system for Gerrard.
