He may not have been first choice, he may have been written off as Martin 2.0 after fans were worried they were in for a repeat of before (we were all guilty of it but the real frustration was aimed above) however Danny Rohl is winning over the Rangers fans and it is simply because - he’s respecting the club and its traditions and earning the fan’s respect back.

Perhaps fans were panicking after an abysmal start to the season and listening to a manager who seemed to distance themselves from Rangers tradition and never embody those values. This means it’s refreshing to have a manager who actually does the right things and shows a bit of class.

Fans are happy to see Danny get a win at Ibrox and end the poor streak. We know the task at hand is huge but let’s get behind Danny and hope he can get a tune out of this team

Ally McCoist stated last night’s defeat against Brann was a real low point during this debacle of a season and questioned the manner of the defeat.

McCoist said the players looked like “wee boys” in last night’s game again with how lost and bullied they are all over the park. He really feels for Danny Rohl who can try fix the shape a little but is up against it trying to climb back to heights where Rangers belong.

Ally admitted he finds it hard to commentate these games because he has to be brutally honest and can’t deny how far Rangers have regressed.

He also said recruitment has been terrible and the team is littered with bang average foreign players when the Rangers fans would be happier backing a team full of their “own” youth coming from the grass roots.

He stated no disrespect to the teams Rangers have played so far in the UEL but they are bang average and how disorganised Rangers are made them look elite

Andrew Cavanagh confirmed this week that perhaps they’ve been too ambitious in trying to change too much too quickly and we couldn’t agree more.

The best managers of the best teams in Europe always gradually bring in talent to bed them in, learn about the club culture and naturally transition into the role and replace whoever.

It is very rare a complete overhaul works right away, with too much change killing chemistry built up over the years. It always massively changes the shape, style and is a challenge working with new personalities.

Rangers are guilty of getting rid of the good they did have and replacing it with unproven players who look almost shell shocked at the demand when you put on that shirt.

Andrew Cavanagh and the 49ers were welcomed to bring Rangers some form of stability and financial backing during a challenging time with the club’s budget and transfer policy.

Andrew has even admitted the team lacks leadership which is evident however letting guys go like Leon Balogun who lived and breathed Rangers was baffling. He fully understood the demands and offered great leadership in the dressing room, leadership that would be welcomed even if Leon wasn’t playing every game he would definitely have an impact and Rangers need more characters like this in that dressing room because in short many new boys just don’t get it.

Rangers brought in 11 players with 12 confirmed departures (including releases) so this is a massive change on a team and add to that Russell Martin who died on the hill of his football philosophy and in the process alienated himself from the fans so you can’t imagine how the players felt.

Recruitment has been poor, there are some signings that show glimpses of something however this is not enough and for the most part the team are way below the expectation of what a Rangers team should be. The buck lies with Thelwell & Stewart who authorised these changes and signings. Too many rookie errors like selling all your left backs to sign one, releasing experienced players to sign inexperienced, selling your top goalscorer and paying way over the odds for a striker who doesn’t score goals - all of these decisions are criminal.

“I think, for me, it was clear that everything could be right, but of course we are very disappointed today at a 3-0 defeat.

We have to say the opponent was better, they deserved the win, they were more aggressive, they won more second balls.

“I think today I saw a lot where we are at the moment, what is the reality, but also it was very clear we have not so much time to change something.

“But I want to see again a step forward on Sunday and it means we have to win this game.

“I think there are reasons why we didn’t win in the past so many games and I think you saw this today again.

“My job is to find a solution as soon as possible with this group.

The sporting director admitted that fans hadn’t seen the best of the new recruits yet but remains convinced of their quality.

“I think it’s a fair question,” he said. “And I think if I look at the first eight games in particular, it’s very, very difficult to say otherwise.

“Having said all that, we think that the group is a good group. We think they’re capable of much, much more.

“And we hope, through the appointment of Danny, we’ve got the opportunity to show their qualities in a much stronger way.

“I think we’ve recruited a very strong group who are very capable. And I’m hoping that over the course of the next group of games, you’re able to see the likes of Thelo Aasgaard and all the players that we signed in the summer reach their full potential and show that not only to you guys, but also to the fans.”

I understand if you’re looking at just this from the outside, how it might not look good, so let me take a step back,” Cavenagh said.

“We interviewed a number of fantastic candidates. We ultimately decided to pursue five simultaneously. Three have obviously been in the press quite extensively, and two you’ve never heard of.

“I say that to highlight that we have to keep everything incredibly confidential in this process, and so our supporters only saw some portion of the process, and it makes it look, jumbled, lumpy, whatever the right adjective is, so we get why they would think that.

“From inside our perspective, that’s not the case. It was a very smooth process.

“We had five fantastic candidates, and we knew that at the end of it we were going to end up with a fantastic head coach, and in our opinion, we have, we have Danny Rohl.

“It goes for Paraag, it goes for me, and it goes for everybody in the club, and moving forward, that same group, meaning everybody in the club, including the four that I just named, are also accountable.”

“We didn’t believe it coming out of the summer window, that we’ve always known.

“We probably need a little bit more experience, we need a little bit more steel, and we didn’t expect to get everything we wanted in one window.

Danny Rohl has officially joined as Rangers head coach.

We understand this is a hugely unpopular appointment but we do not blame Danny for this and will give him the respect and grace period he deserves to prove any doubters wrong.

We shall measure the man off performances and improvements and hold judgement until then. There is nothing else to do but get behind the team and salvage something from this season
