Shinnie was exposed twice in the first 10 minutes as Scotland were run ragged in Astana.
The Aberdeen defender played at left-back, with Liverpool’s Andy Robertson and Kieran Tierney of Rangers both absent.
But the 27-year-old doubts he’ll ever get another stab at pulling on a Scotland shirt.
