Motherwell are preparing for this weekend’s match against Rangers in the Premiership.Callum Hendry is ready to blank his dad Colin if he picks the wrong side to sit in during Rangers vs Motherwell this weekend.Hendry Snr won a treble with Rangers during the late 90s and remains fondly remembered at Ibrox. He’ll be in Govan this weekend as Danny Rohl’s side look to achieve a big win in pursuit of the Premiership title, hosting the Steelmen as they go into the weekend a point off leaders Hearts. Looking to ensure three points aren’t achieved are Motherwell, and they have Hendry Jnr to call upon after he returned from a three-month injury lay-off last time out against Hearts. However, there’s been no commitment on what end the former Rangers defender will sit in. That could lead to consequences at home, but Hendry Snr has turned a believer in Motherwell’s possession-based football that has sparked plenty of plaudits and put them in the hunt for European football. It wasn’t something he was sure could come off but getting a closer look through an inside man at Fir Park has convinced the ex-Scotland international otherwise.Read MoreCallum Hendry on Colin Hendry’s allegiances for Rangers vs Motherwell”He better have,” Hendry joked when asked if he had a half-and-half scarf. “I think he’s coming. He’s not asked me for tickets, so I don’t know what end he’s sitting in. But if he’s in the wrong end, then I’m not speaking to him. He was probably one that after I spoke to the gaffer, he was saying to me he wasn’t sure if this can work at Motherwell. “But he’s old. I did tell him, ‘Dad, it can work’. And it has, but he’s really enjoyed it. He said it’s been a breath of fresh air to watch this team in this league, because he loves this league as well. I think he loves me playing up here, to be fair. So yeah, he’s enjoyed it. It’s like the fans and it’s why we’ve sold so many tickets, they come to watch entertaining football. And that’s what this team has done this year. So yeah, he’s loved it, just like the fans have.”For Motherwell manager Jens Berthel Askou, having watched his side draw twice with Rangers this season and lose narrowly at Ibrox last time out, he doesn’t expect the pressure gauge ramping up on counterpart Rohl’s side to hold too much sway. His focus is ensuring a boost for Motherwell’s continental ambitions as they sit fourth in the table, three points ahead of Hibs beneath them, occupying the league’s final guaranteed European qualifier spot. How will Motherwell approach match vs Rangers?“They’ve been under pressure since the start of the season,” said Askou. “If you look at their results, they have been able to deal extremely well with that pressure. Now they’re in a much better position than they were last time we played them. Obviously, the better we look, the more we stress them, the more we can make them chase the ball and make them struggle producing chances. Can we even score a goal or two there? “That will obviously frustrate them at times. Then we know at some point, whether it’s an open game that’s equal, whether they’ll be behind, or we have to chase and it opens up because we have to invest even more, or whether they have to put the speeder down towards the end and chase a result where they’re behind. They have the intensity with the crowd and the level of players to really speed up the game. We need to be prepared for that. I think we have been every time we’ve played them and I’m sure we will again.“Let’s not get ahead of ourselves, let’s just look at the game on Sunday, one at a time. A massive game with two teams who have made it really hard for each other to win these games. We know every point counts, because obviously it’s going to be equally hard for Hibs to get the points. But we are in a very, very good position and we are really happy with the position we are in right now.”The Scottish Football Social Club is presented by BetSBK.com | 18+ | Gamble Responsibly…
