Rangers ‘go all out’ for signing by raising offer – Player opting for Russell Martin’s side over competitor

Last Wednesday, El Desmarque reported Rangers are ready to beat Rayo Vallecano in the race for Real Betis’ Nobel Mendy. They also explained Russell Martin’s side are in talks with the centre-back over a move to Ibrox this summer.

Earlier in the window, PSV Eindhoven came close to securing the 20-year-old’s services, but the move fell through at the last minute.

Since then, Rayo Vallecano made advances, and Real Betis assumed an agreement would be finalised with them. That may not happen now because of Rangers.

Journalist Fran Campos Vázquez took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to report that the Scottish club ‘go all out’ to sign the defender.

He claims Russell Martin’s side have raised their offer, without providing any details of the initial or the latest proposal. It’s now down to the Senegalese and the journalist claims he must decide soon.

Mendy seems to have decided on where he wants to play next season if Monday’s edition of Diario de Sevilla are to be believed.

Real Betis manager Manuel Pellegrini still has those players at his disposal who are not in his plans. They need to be released in order to bring in new faces to the club this summer.

Mendy is one of them, who is of interest to Rayo Vallecano and the Scottish club.

The newspaper’s summary says he ‘opts Rangers’ and within the report, it’s explained the youngster ‘appears to have opted for Scottish side Rangers’. If that’s the case, they will have to find an agreement with Real Betis to complete the operation.
