Blow for Rangers as club have no plan to sell Scottish player – ‘Indispensable’ for manager
Rangers are said to be eyeing a move for GD Estoril Praia’s Jordan Holsgrove, to improve Russell Martin’s squad for this season.
This was reported in the UK, where it was also stated that along with Rangers, Hibernian FC and Heart of Midlothian are also interested in signing the 25-year-old. It was also said the midfielder has a low release clause and could change clubs this summer.
Saturday’s edition of O Jogo relays claims made in the UK about Rangers, Hibs and Heart of Midlothian’s interest in Holsgrove and then provides Estoril Praia’s take on this case.
The Scottish midfielder initially joined Estoril Praia on loan from Olympiacos, and they made his stay permanent last summer. Last season, Holsgrove was a regular under his compatriot, Ian Cathro, who joined the club a year ago.
According to the newspaper, the Primeira Liga side are convinced of his performances, and their directors have ‘no plans’ to sell him in this window. They further add that the player is considered ‘indispensable’ for Cathro.
Estoril Praia’s stance on Holsgrove would come as a blow for Russell Martin’s side and two other Scottish clubs. The Scott has a contract until 2028.
