Gerrard has been working as Liverpool’s academy coach for over a year and he was appointed as the Gers boss earlier this month.
The 37-year-old has been tasked with trying to help the Scottish giants escape the shadow of Old Firm rivals Celtic.
But Butcher has warned Gerrard that he may not get the chance to manage Liverpool one day
