Wilkins was rushed to hospital this week after suffering a heart attack and falling and hitting his head at his Cobham home in Surrey.
The ex-England captain has been put into an included coma and is in a critical condition.
Souness played against Wilkins many times during his career and signed him when he was manager of Rangers in 1987.
