Gerrard is the hot favourite to take over at Ibrox in the summer, with Graeme Murty set to leave the club.
Dodds agrees it would be a gamble for Gerrard to take the Rangers job as his first managerial post.
But he also reckons it could help the Liverpool legend’s future endeavours into management if it goes well.
